I am writing about communication, something I feel I haven't done enough of lately. After spending more than forty years in the dance world, I sometimes forget that what I consider common knowledge about dance classes, isn't common to most people. I apologize for assuming that you all know what I am thinking!
Attendance is important...Dance classes are built upon skills that are learned from one week to the next. When a student misses class, then the entire class, sadly, is held back until the missing student is caught up. While we certainly don't want an ill student in class, poor attendance not only affects the self-esteem of the student who missed, but affects the learning of the whole class. If your student does need to miss class or will be late, please call the studio at 745-1204.
Students need their own shoes! The shoes at the studio are for emergencies and for guests or first-time students. At this time, I have an abundance of shoes and may be able to sell off some extra tap and ballet shoes, so please see me if your dancer needs shoes. Many children's feet have grown lately, so please check to see if their toes are crammed!
Galt Dance Center will be closed for the summer so dancers need to work hard now to prepare for next year's Recital! The last day of classes will be on Monday, June 22 and then Miss Dorothy is off to Honduras for a science expedition!
